So I got the job. Not that I had much of a question as to whether I would. But this means that I start on Monday. Not a lot of time to get everything ready, but at least them I'll have an independent source of income.
Finally called my aunt too... Still didn't know what to sat. Her first question? "Where the hell have you been!" The conversation went like this:
"Aunt Barbara... hi. It's me." "Me who?" "Um... Babs?" "Oh my god! Barbara?! Where the hell have you been?!" She paused, then yelled without covering the phone! "Jim! JIM!! It's Junior!"
I think I heard a shocked yell but I lost the connection and didn't get it back for an hour and a half. So they know that I'm not dead but not where I've been! I left a message on the machine - the recording of which hasn't changed since I left... But the sound of Aunt Barbara's voice, she was stunned. Completely shocked. And I of course never meant to disappear like this but to them its been years. Its 2009! What am I supposed to tell them?! Jimmy and Jessica are older than when I left. I've missed so much...
Batgirl and Batman have been missing for the same amount of time that Bruce and me have! What happened to Gotham in our absense!? I've done some research and the city is still standing of course but still... Nothing to do about it now.
I need to get out of here and get something to drink or kick the asses of some gang members!. Something to help me deal with this. I didn't think talking to my aunt would effect me this much. I'm going to have to go home and see them. I can't stay away for much longer... It's funny. I can swing in bust up a gang of street punks but I get on the phone with my uncle and aunt (not even my uncle. I wish I could have talked to him before the connection cut out) after so long and I become tongue tied... |
